    Example Calculation

For a gross monthly salary of KES 100,000:

    Step 1: Calculate Taxable Income

    Gross salary: KES 100,000

    NSSF contribution: KES 2,160

    Taxable income: KES 100,000 - KES 2,160 = KES 97,840

Step 2: Calculate Tax for Each Band

    First KES 24,000: 10% of 24,000 = KES 2,400

    Next KES 8,333: 25% of 8,333 = KES 2,083.25

    Next KES 65,507: 30% of 65,507 = KES 19,652.10

    Total tax: KES 24,135.35

    Step 3: Deduct Reliefs

    Personal relief: KES 2,400

    Insurance relief: 15% of 2,750 = KES 412.50

    Total reliefs: KES 2,812.50

    Step 4: Calculate Final PAYE

    PAYE: KES 24,135.35 - KES 2,812.50 = KES 21,322.85

    Step 5: Calculate Other Deductions

    NSSF: KES 2,160

    SHIF: 2.75% of 100,000 = KES 2,750

    AHL: 1.5% of 100,000 = KES 1,500

    Step 6: Calculate Net Salary

    Net Salary: KES 100,000 - KES 21,322.85 - KES 2,160 - KES 2,750 - KES 1,500

    = KES 72,267.15
